The "Expert" Game

To encourage quick thinking, improvisation, and the ability to find creative connections between seemingly unrelated concepts. This game is a low-stakes way to practice "thinking on your feet."

This activity forces participants to create a narrative and a purpose for a novel concept in real time. It encourages them to move beyond a product's basic function and think about its potential uses and features from a persuasive, "sales" perspective.

  1. Choose an "expert." One person is designated as the expert for the round.

  2. Gather the nouns. The rest of the team shouts out two unrelated nouns (e.g., "bicycle" and "sandwich").

  3. Create the product. Combine the two nouns to create a new product (e.g., "bicycle sandwich").

  4. The expert pitches. The expert must then improvise a sales pitch, explaining the product's benefits, features, and target audience. Encourage them to be enthusiastic and imaginative.

  5. Rotate roles. After a few minutes, choose a new expert and repeat the process.
