At the end of a workshop, it’s valuable to take a moment to reflect on what you’ve learned, what you’d like to develop further, and how your new insights can help you improve. This activity encourages that reflection and works just as well when run remotely.
Number of participants: Any
Time needed: Any
Materials: Online collaboration tool
Goal
Help your team reflect after a workshop by exploring what they feel confident about, what they’ve learned, and where they might need more support.
Instructions
At the end of your workshop, show the group three shapes: a circle, a square, and a triangle.
Ask participants to share their reflections by adding notes to each shape using an online collaboration tool such as Mural.
Circle: What’s still going around in your head? What do you still not understand?
Square: What’s squared away? What do you feel confident about?
Triangle: What three takeaways could you apply in your personal or work life?
Once everyone has added their feedback, invite them to explain their choices and discuss the patterns that emerge.
Debrief
As the facilitator, highlight common themes and prompt the group to notice others’ ‘Squares’ and ‘Triangles’. Challenge everyone to turn their ‘Circles’ into ‘Squares’, and share resources or next steps that can help them do so.
